EMTC Is a Partner Accreditor for CBP Continuing Education
EMTC is excited to be part of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's program to elevate the standard of knowledge of our Licensed Customs House Brokers. Our simple accreditation process is shown below.
REVIEW: EMTC can review any activity provider's courses and other activities in line with standards and criteria set by the CBP program. All information must be presented as a pdf file. The CBP Criteria for accrediting courses is shown below these instructions.
APPROVAL: Our licensed brokers and industry trade experts advise you of approval through our automated system or offer guidance on how to revise the submitted training in 4 business days, or less . You will receive a unique confirmation code designating accrediting of your activity.
ACTIVITIES: Prospective Continuing Education activities that may be approved include webinars, seminars, conferences, online self-directed training, workshops. If your activity type is not listed, contact us for quick guidance at education@emtc.org Support information must be in a pdf format and uploaded.
TOPICS: Informational activities that promote understanding of U.S. imports and exports and the policies, programs, business practices, laws and regulations for managing global trade are appropriate to submit for review. These topics also may meet our Customs Business Passport Stamp that LCBs can earn with your courses.
NOTE TO EDUCATION PROVIDERS: Each agenda you submit for accreditation must show the duration for each module or topic including any breaks, meals or networking sessions during the activity. If known, the agenda should include the name of the preparer-presenter(s). State on the agenda if the activity will be delivered in person, on demand or virtually. For an upload of multiple activities, you must upload the first course agenda pdf to the LCB CE Application. Any additional course agenda pdf files are uploaded in CBP LCB CE Additional Accreditation. If you have eleven (11) activities you must place 10 pdf files in the Additional Accreditation Application. You do not need to upload additional files in one session.
SUBMISSIONS: To submit your Continuing Education Activity scroll down to the "Select Your Education Activity". Select the icon that matches the total duration of your activity inclusive of any breaks, etc. Consider accrediting your course for C-E and for a micro credential with Global Trade Passport Program. Learn more in this brochure. RECORDKEEPING: Records must be retained for 6 years for educators and brokers. Brokers should consider using the EMTC Global Pathways Passport micro credential to retain their evidence of courses taken as well as to add micro credentials to their social media profiles. UPDATES: EMTC offers a periodic newsletter with updates on the program and a list of approved courses and activities for the LCB Continuing Education requirement. Education Providers and Licensed Brokers can sign up to stay informed. Scroll down for the QR code sign up. SUPPORT: EMTC Accreditor Team lists the activities we accredit and the provider's name on all of our websites and in our Learning Management System. We can place a link to the activity registration page to make it easy to find information and sign up for the activity. We offer additional marketing support if you also apply for a Global Trade Passport Stamp. The Continuing Education requirement is found in Title 19 C.F.R. Part 111. EMTC Provides Information for Licensed Brokers
ACCREDITED COURSES: Click on this link for courses accredited by EMTC. If provided by the educator there will be a link to the registration or a website. The list will be updated periodically as new courses are available. Courses offered by EMTC will be listed but are not accredited by EMTC under Customs requirements. They will be indicated as EMTC offerings.

Brokers should consider using the EMTC Global Trade Passport micro credential to retain their evidence of courses taken as well as to add micro credentials to their social media profiles. If you need a repository for your education credits scroll down to "Select Your Educational Activities" Select the Launchpad option. This a simple effective way to maintain your records for 6 years.
AUDITS: CBP will conduct audits following the close of the current Triennial Period. Criteria is anticipated to include whether or not you completed the current 20 credits required. The Launchpad Passport option makes an audit easy. All your documents can be provided with a simple link to your passport.
INFORMATIONAL OUTREACH: EMTC offers monthly outreach webinars called Drop Ins that provide brokers with information from CBP on the CE program, answer your specific questions and provide some current news insights in the trade world. These monthly sessions are on Fridays at 11:30AM ET. They start with a short presentation on news and information.
UPSKILL YOUR STAFF: EMTC offers Customs Broker businesses a curated Customs Business Program designed to support companies in upskilling their staff, reward and retain high performing staff, and visibly demonstrate to clients their dedication to the industry with a digital credential that is recognized globally.
