    World’s first carbon import tax gets green light | The Hill

    This law imposes additional taxes (carbon credits) on importers in the EU to make domestic manufacturing more competitive.  EU effective date starts in 2026. Some in the US want a similar law.  More complexity and cost for global trade

    Port Labor Disputes Raise New Fears Over U.S. Import Disruptions - WSJ

    22,000 dockworkers from California to Washington are without  a contract since last year. Peak season starts in a few months. Import volumes are weak. Port activities have been disrupted by stoppages.
