Message From The Dean of Students And Enrollment Management

Even though academics will be your focus while attending Eastern Maine Technical College, there is more to college than attending classes and studying. Services, programs, and activities are also vital parts of the college experience. You have the opportunity to become involved in activities, to request and to take advantage of student services, and to offer suggestions on how these services could better meet your needs.

The Office of Enrollment Management is available to work with you. We will do our best to assist with any questions or problems you may have with your personal, social, or academic life while you attend Eastern Maine Technical College. Do not hesitate to discuss your concerns with me or with other members of the Enrollment Management Division.

The administration, staff, and faculty at Eastern Maine Technical College welcome you to the College!

W. Gregory Swett
Dean of Students and Enrollment Management

RESIDENCE HALLS

Acadia Hall and Katahdin Hall provide housing and food service for approximately 130 students. Each hall is staffed with resident assistants who offer help with personal and academic concerns. A professional staff member, called the Director of Residential Life, lives on campus and oversees all of residential life.

McCorkill Dining Hall, located in Katahdin Hall, serves three daily meals Monday through Friday and two daily meals on Saturday and Sunday. Purchasing options include two meal plans; a 10-meal pass for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; or a semester commuter lunch pass.

Additional services and regulations governing the residence halls are contained in the Residential Life Handbook, available in the Office of Housing and Residential Life or the Dean of Students and Enrollment Management Office.

RECREATIONAL SPORTS

Eastern Maine Technical College offers an organized, balanced recreation program. Intramurals consist of team, dual, and individual competitive women's, men's, and co-educational leagues. Inter-collegiate co-ed golf, co-ed soccer and basketball teams participate in the Maine Small College Conference and the National Small College Athletic Association. Additional sports may be offered when student interest is sufficient. A student eligibility policy is published in the Student Handbook.

We also offer special events for children of students. "Kids" events have included Halloween and Christmas parties as well as a week long activity week during public school spring vacation.

The Recreational Sports Office, located in Johnston Gymnasium, coordinates all sports offerings. The Gym is open for drop-in use by the campus community. Off-campus recreational opportunities are available for students wishing to participate in sports not offered on campus. These activities are usually offered free of charge with a student I.D. card.

VISITORS

Visitors/children are not allowed in classrooms, shops or labs or other areas of the college without prior permission of the classroom instructor or appropriate supervisor. Children should not be left unattended in any area of the college.
